The Osaka Prefectural Police Department's Suita Office filed charges on Wednesday against a 50-year-old man from Minoo, Osaka for illegally recording the Detective Conan: The Scarlet Bullet (Meitantei Conan: Hiiro no Dangan) film with his smartphone, thus violating Japan's Copyright Law and the Act on Prevention of Unauthorized Recording of Films. According to the authorities, another theatergoer noticed the man with a smartphone on his lap in a Suita theater on April 24 and called the police.
The Gundam: Hathaway film opened in Japan on Friday after previously being delayed three times. The movie was originally slated to open in Japan in July 2020, but was delayed due to COVID-19. The film was delayed in April from May 7 to May 21, and was then delayed again last month due to the extended state of emergency declared in Japan. The current state of emergency is scheduled to last until June 20.
Tokiwa-so Project, a project that helps people who dream of becoming manga creators make that dream a reality, announced on May 31 that they have opened up a brand new Tokiwa-so complex for the Reiwa era. The sharehouse complex is complete with private rooms for creators to live in, shared spaces for collaborations, and even resources available to connect budding artists to currently serialized creators and manga veterans.
The edited version will also stream on d Anime Store on July 14, and the unedited version will stream on July 20. It will begin streaming on other services on July 27.
